What is a Controller in Valorant
Controllers are one of the four roles present in Valorant.
The abilities of a controller allow them to assist their teammates by cutting enemy vision, taking control of an area, and forcing the enemies into choke points.
Valorant currently has five Controller agents on its roster.
Controllers are experts in slicing up dangerous territory to set their team up for success.
— Official Controller Description
What is the role of a controller in Valorant?
Controllers are equipped with abilities that allow them to cut off enemies’ vision with smoke or similar abilities.
Controllers are really good at taking control of the bombsite, helping their teammates enter the site without casualties, and forcing the enemies into choke points.
Agents like Brimstone and Omen are equipped with “smoke” abilities, which are vision-blocking abilities that cut off the enemies’ vision, which helps you and your teammates enter and take control of an area.
Attacking Stage
You aim to enter the bomb site during the attacking stage and plant the spike. Defend the spike until the time runs out, or the entire enemy team is eliminated.
As a controller, your job is to find the perfect spots on the map and cut off the enemies’ vision.
Controllers usually have a slow-paced and supportive play style, your job is to assist your duelist in getting the kills and assist your teammates in entering and taking control of the bomb site.
All of the controllers have smoke-like abilities; these abilities allow you or your teammates to safely plant the spike and reposition.
Once you have successfully planted the spike, hold cross-fire angles and play along with your teammates to stop the enemies from retaking the bomb site.

Defending Stage
As Defender, your team’s objective is to stop the enemies from entering the bomb site. You can use various abilities like Smokes and Mollies to stop enemies.
If the enemies manage to enter the site and plant their spike, you must defuse the spike to win the round.
As a controller, you must smoke off the entry points where you expect the enemies to come from.
Agents like Brimstone and Viper can stop the enemies from rushing into the bomb site using their abilities, Incendiary and Snake bite.
Use these abilities wisely to slow down the pace of the enemies and buy time for your teammates to rotate.
If the enemies have managed to enter the site and plant the spike, you must perform a retake. Re-taking a site is similar to the attacking stage.
During a re-take, cut off the enemies’ vision with your smoke abilities and assist your teammates to successfully enter and retake the bomb site.
