SenpAI Comments: 10.14 PBE Notes – Nexus Blitz Mode

Another PBE Cycle with updates on champions and systems! SenpAI is here to list the recent additions to the PBE server with the upcoming patch 10.14. Right after Summer Skins, three champions came forward bearing flames. Let’s go!

Champion Skins

Arcanist Kog’Maw (1350 RP)

“The diminutive familiar of a famed sorcerer, Kog’maw was mistreated and neglected for years as his master pursued the arcane arts. Thanks to a chance meeting with Zoe, he was released from servitude to travel the land with her… ultimately enrolling in the same school Zoe technically attends.”

We can’t believe Kog’Maw could look cuter after that butterfly form but Riot actually did it.

Arcanist Shaco (1350 RP)

“Vile warlock and wanted criminal, Shaco is a dangerous creature whose mind was shattered during experimental soul duplication rituals. At some point he came into possession of a rare and powerful book of spells, amplifying the threat of his monstrous arcane sorcery.”

Arcanist Zoe (1350 RP)

“A promising student of magic at the Arcanist Academy, Zoe has ignored the advice of her headmaster and embarked upon a grand adventure the likes of which she is utterly unprepared for. Considering her penchant for sewing chaos wherever she goes, the world might be more unprepared than she is.”

Conqueror Nautilus (975 RP)

We have to warn you that the in-game appearance of this skin does not look like how it is in the splash art. The community is not quite happy with the absence of unique VFX about this skin & we couldn’t agree more.

Infernal Karthus (1350 RP)

“The disciples of Karthus usher this infernal harbinger into the world by singing his discordant chorus, a pledge that beckons pillars of flame unto them. On his arrival, the deathsinger’s chant summons columns of hellfire that descend from the heavens above. Few live to tell of the dirge they heard before flames swept the land.”

Infernal Kennen (1350 RP)

“A playful spirit of fire, Kennen is not a malevolent being, but can’t help igniting his surroundings while zipping about. His lightning quick movements wreak havoc upon any village unfortunate enough to entice the impish spirit to visit.”

In addition to Karthus and Kennen sharing a splash art, they seem to share ability VFXs too. Karthus’ E is quite similar to Kennen’s R and we think that the latter should be more distinguished.

Infernal Vel’Koz (1350 RP)

“Scarce is known of Vel’koz, owing to the fact that most who witness him combust at his mere presence. What is known, however, is that this cataclysmic titan can level entire civilizations with his incinerating gaze, leaving only smouldering ruin. Woe be to those fixed in the behemoth’s infernal gaze, for there will be no remains left to bury.”

It seems like Vel’Koz mains are generally happy with the skin, however, there is some dissatisfaction with the SFX on his ulti being too weak.

The Updates

Nexus Blitz will have a standard theme as an Ionian forest. Its name is still in progress but here are the concepts for the new map:

  • Bardle Royale (Classic): Fight for survival in the flaming circle of death while it closes in on a part of the map. The last surviving team wins.
  • Bardle Royale (Paranoia): Fight for survival in the flaming circle BUT everyone is nearsighted, like you’re all being Nocturne ulted. The last surviving team wins.
  • Bardle Royale (Juggernaut): Fight for survival in the flaming circle AND one random champion on each team gains a high amount of health and the On Fire! buff at the start of the event. (As a reminder, the On Fire! buff gives you bonus attack speed, adaptive power, and mana/energy regen, but makes you more vulnerable to damage). The last surviving team wins.
  • URF Deathmatch: Every player goes into URF mode surrounded by a bunch of cheering minions! Defeat the enemy team in a best-of-three to win.
  • Loot Teemo: A wandering Loot Teemo spawns randomly on the map. Hitting the Loot Teemo grants players gold. The team that last-hits Teemo wins the event.
  • Loot Veigar: A wandering Loot Veigar spawns randomly on the map, using Dark Matter and Event Horizon while running away. Hitting the Loot Veigar grants players gold. The team that last-hits Veigar wins the event.
  • Push the Cart (Classic): Escort the cart by standing near it to move it toward the nearest enemy structure to destroy it.
  • Push the Cart (Attack / Defend): Race your opponents for who can blow up an enemy structure the fastest, except now both teams have a cart they can navigate!
  • [NEW] Protect the Soraka: Two Soraka bots enter lane, but only one can leave (… cause one team is gonna destroy the other one). Beware of all the healing and bananas!
  • [NEW] DPS Check: It’s like practice mode, but you need to out practice your opponent’s practice on the same Teemo dummy.

  • Catapult of Champions: A cannon that launches your champion anywhere on the map appears in your base for the rest of the game. Upon landing, deal damage and push away nearby enemies.
  • Blessing of Blitzcrank: Allied turrets, siege minions, and super minions have the ability to Rocket Grab nearby enemies for the rest of the game.
  • Poro King: The Poro King spawns to aid your team in pushing forward and sieging enemy turrets, breathing fire on enemies and healing nearby allies periodically.
  • Battle Sled: Players can jump aboard a sled from their base to nearly anywhere on the map. First-person in the sled is in charge of where you go…
  • Guardian Angels: Each member of the team gains a one-time Guardian Angel effect, lasting 90 seconds.
  • Statikk Shock: Each player gains chain lightning zaps on their basic attacks for three minutes to help mow down waves and champions.
  • B.F. Shields: Each member of the team gains a hefty shield until it is broken.
  • Mega Cloud Drake: Team gets mega out-of-combat movement speed and CDR on their ultimate for three minutes.
  • Mega Ocean Drake: Restores health and mana/energy when dealing damage for three minutes.
  • [NEW] Elder Dragon: You can now execute enemies under a specific health threshold for a few minutes by the force of a BIG DRAGON.

Balance Adjustments

  • Predator (Domination Keystone) BUFF
    • Damage increased from [30-90] to [40-120]
    • Cooldown lowered from [100-70] to [90-60]

Summoner Spells

  • Ghost BUFF
    • Movement speed increased from 20-40% to 24-48%


    • Charge storing time listed on tooltip lowered from 240-120s to 175-120s 

“This means if you start yellow, you’ll get your first ammo but your next one will come in ((175 – 90) + 175) = 265s, rather than just 175s. 175 was chosen here to keep to a rough number of wards you would get from yellow trinket the same as Live.

The effect of this change is that if you start Yellow and stay with Yellow, or start Red and stay with Red, you won’t notice much of a difference. But if you start Yellow, place a ward and swap to red before minions spawn, you are no longer getting a significant advantage.”
