League of Legends Patch Notes 10.16 is live with Yone coming to the Rift & tons of balance updates upon champions aiming pro play. There will be a slight balance update for 10.17 yet the next big patch will come as 10.18 due to Riot Devs taking time off. Now let’s take a comprehensive look into all updates & changes.

Yone, the Unforgotten

Yone uses two blades, causing every second Attack to deal 50% magic damage.

Yone’s Critical Strike Chance is doubled but his critical strikes deal 10% reduced damage.

“Yone thrusts forward, dealing 20/45/70/95/120 (+100% Total AD) physical damage.  

On hit, grants a stack of [“Broken” Buff] for 6 seconds. At 2 stacks, this skill causes Yone to dash forward with a wave of wind that Knocks Up for 0.75s and deals 20/45/70/95/120 (+100% Total AD) physical damage. 

This skill can critically strike, applies on-hit effects, is interruptible by crowd control and its cooldown and cast time are reduced by Attack Speed.”

Yone cleaves forward dealing 5/10/15/20/25 + 6/6.5/7/7.5/8% max Health physical damage and 5/10/15/20/25 + 6/6.5/7/7.5/8% max Health magic damage. 

If Yone hits, he gains [40-75] (60% Total AD) Shield for 1.5 seconds. The amount of Shield increases for each champion struck. 

Shield increased by 100% for the first champion hit, and 25% for all subsequent champions. 

Minimum [40-410] total damage against minions and monsters.

Mana Cost: None

Yone enters a spirit form for 5 seconds, leaving your body behind for the duration and gaining 10% ramping Move Speed

When the spirit for ends, Yone snaps back to his body and repeats 25/27.5/30/32.5/35% of all damage he dealt to champions during this time. You may Recast this skill during spirit form. 

Recast: End spirit form early. 

Move Speed ramps from 10% to 30% over the duration

120/100/80s Cooldown
Mana Cost: None

Yone strikes all enemies along a path for 100/200/300 (+40% Total AD) physical damage and 100/200/300 (+40% Total AD) magic damage, teleporting behind the last champion hit and Knocking Up victims towards Yone.  

If no enemy champion is struck, Yone will instead blink to maximum range. 


Buffs & Nerfs

These changes are aimed mostly at pro-play thus that is why there is a huge list of buffs in contrast to a fairly smaller list of nerfs.




  • AKALI:
    • Five Point Strike (Q) BASE DAMAGE30/55/80/105/130  35/60/85/110/135
    • Shuriken Flip (E) DAMAGE TYPE Physical  Magic
    • It is not common to hear such an update on abilities becoming physical damage from magic damage or vice versa. Akali now has more magic damage. Calling this a buff for mid lane would not be fair since mid lane champions would have less armor & now you have more magic damage. The impact will be onto the matchups which will have more armor thus the top lane. Akali.
  • ASHE: Ranger’s Focus (Q) BONUS ATTACK SPEED 20/30/40/50/60%  20/25/30/35/40%
    • She has a lot of utility & Q is one of these; although the decrease in attack speed will be felt, this will not affect her effectiveness much.
  • BARD:
    • HEALTH 575  560
    • Caretaker’s Shrine (W) MAXIMUM HEAL 70/110/150/190/230  55/95/135/175/215
    • Quite strong champion which has a high damage output for a support. Bard is still strong after this nerf but it will likely be a bit easier to oppose him in the early phase of the game.
    • Hate Spike (Q)
      • COOLDOWN 8 seconds  4 seconds
      • REMOVED Hitting a monster no longer refunds 50% of Hate Spike’s cooldown
    • Wow. This is a big contribution to her Q which will let her access much more damage & will also let her be viable for solo queue.
  • FIORA:
    • Lunge (Q) 
      • COOLDOWN 16/14/12/10/8 seconds  13/11.25/9.5/7.75/6 seconds
      • ENEMY HIT CD REDUCTION 60% (enemy hits refund 6.4/5.6/4.8/4/3.2 seconds)  50% (enemy hits refund 6.5/5.63/4.75/3.9/3 seconds)
    • Who wouldn’t want to feel worse when chased by Fiora? It gets harder to escape from her since the buff will allow her to catch up with enemies. 
    • Devastating Charge (Q)
      • BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED 25-75% (over the first 3 seconds, with fourth second at maximum value)  25-100% (over the first 3 seconds, with fourth second at maximum value)
    • Hecarim gets scarier & quicker. The horseman will find it easier to close gaps & initiate skirmishes. Who is not happy about this? Absolutely not us. 
  • JAX: 
    • Counterstrike (E) CD 16/14/12/10/8 seconds  14/12.5/11/9.5/8 seconds 
    • An early game buff which will let Jax be freer. Be careful not to be chased down by him.
  • JHIN: Whisper (P) FINAL SHOT DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES 1.2 total attack damage  1.5 total attack damage (now the same damage as a normal critical strike)
    • Jhin has a fairly well winrate over bot lane fluctuating between 50.7% to 50.9% so we consider him doing fine in the bot lane. This is a small buff which will might affect the landing phase in the pro play.
  • JINX: Super Mega Death Rocket (R) BONUS DAMAGE CAP BUGFIX 375 for main target against champions  Now uncapped against all targets
    • Good to see that his cap bug is fixed; now we can see this buff as a fair addition to her overall damage output.
  • KARMA:
    • Inner Flame (Q) 
      • COST 50/55/60/65/70 mana  65 mana
      • COOLDOWN 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds  9/8.5/8/7.5/7 seconds
    • Karma is a lane bully & the nerf will definitely affect her early phase pokes with empowered Qs. Now is a bit safer against her & 2 more seconds to punish her attacks.
  • KARTHUS: Lay Waste (Q) DAMAGE RATIO 0.35 ability power  0.3 ability power
    • This is a minor nerf yet if we consider his Q as his most effective ability, we would still see some drops in Karthus’ performance. 
  • KHA’ZIX: Taste Their Fear (Q) ISOLATED TARGET BONUS DAMAGE 120%  110%
    • Riot has decided to roll back the buff on his Q to create a safer environment against this uncontrollable void creature. We will see how the balance update will fold in the upcoming days.
    • Piercing Light (Q) DAMAGE 85/120/155/190/225  95/130/165/200/235
    • The Culling (R) TOTAL SHOTS FIRED 20/25/30  22/28/34
    • Massive buff with 10 points to the Q + 4 points to the ultimate will definitely have its effects in solo queue & Lucian will be viable at all phases of the game.
    • Quite a small buff to up her early game a little bit.
  • MORGANA: Dark Binding (Q) COOLDOWN 11 seconds  10 seconds
    • Ok, not all of the players will be happy about this since that root takes a century to break free from. However, for the competitive scene, it’s a nice touch for her early to mid-game.
  • NAUTILUS: Titan’s Wrath (W) SHIELD 60/70/80/90/100  45/55/65/75/85
    • Massive nerf to one of the best lockdown champions. This nerf will also affect his damage output & will absolutely be felt on the lane. 
  • NEEKO:
    • Blooming Burst (Q) 
      • DAMAGE 70/115/160/205/250  80/125/170/215/260
      • BLOOM DAMAGE 35/55/75/95/115  40/60/80/100/120
    • This buff will let us see an improvement on Neeko’s waveclear. 
    • Umbral Blades (P) 
      • COOLDOWN 10 seconds  14 seconds
      • ON-HIT COOLDOWN REFUND Basic attacks against enemy champions and monsters reduce Umbra Blades’ cooldown by 2 seconds  Basic attacks against enemy champions and monsters reduce Umbra Blades’ cooldown by 3 seconds
    • Solo Nocturne’s here’s your turn since jungle Nocturne will less likely get affected by this.
  • RAKAN: The Quickness (R) BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED 50%  75%
    • The recent buff on Rakan seems not enough so this will further enable him to engage the fights & get out of them faster.
  • SETT:
    • Haymaker (W) BASE DAMAGE 80/105/130/155/180 80/100/120/140/160
    • Facebreaker (E) BASE DAMAGE 50/80/110/140/170  50/70/90/110/130
    • Massive nerf which has the potential that would change Sett’s pick rates. 
    • Crystal Slash (Q) 
      • TOTAL DAMAGE RATIO 0.15 attack damage  0.20 attack damage
      • COST 15 mana  10 mana
    • Not really effective to bring Skarner to a better place yet we are hopeful that the rates will be upped.
  • SYNDRA: Dark Sphere (Q) BASE DAMAGE 70/110/150/190/230  70/105/140/175/210
    • She can’t get enough of the balance updates. Syndra will feel the effects of this one throughout the mid to late game.
  • TRISTANA: Explosive Charge (E) NEW HERE COMES THE BOOM Explosive Charge now deals 1% increased damage per 3% critical strike chance (up to 33.3% increased damage)
    • What a buff; late-game Tristana will be a total monster if not stepped & crit chance items will also buff E. Phew.
    • 2 points might seem small yet this will be clearly seen against AP champions thus giving the opportunities for mid & late game.
  • VOLIBEAR: Thundering Smash (Q) BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED 15/20/25/30/35%  10/14/18/22/26% (still doubles when moving towards visible enemy champions)
    • This is mercy. A running Volibear was absolutely terrifying at all stages of the match & hopefully, this will bring a balance to him. 
  • YASUO:
    • BASE MAGIC RESIST 30  32
    • Last Breath (R) BASE DAMAGE 200/300/400  200/350/500
    • Let’s not worry; this is not quite a buff yet still affect mid lane. Are we going to see more Yasuo in the competitive scene?
  • ZIGGS:
    • Short Fuse (P)
      • BONUS DAMAGE RATIO 0.3/0.4/0.5 ability power (levels 1/7/13)  0.5 ability
      • power
      • BONUS DAMAGE MULTIPLIER TO STRUCTURES 2x ability power  2.5x ability power
    • Nice choice to bring a unique aspect more onto the stage! This is a huge early game buff which will increase the pick rates of Ziggs due to being more capable of taking down structures.

  • Ionia Clash is about to start! Recruitment session has now begun; check the Clash tab for details.
  • Also: On August 9th at 11:59 PM local time, the third and final ranked split of the season will begin, but with a little something extra this time! In addition to the usual split rewards, we’ll also be granting a random series 1 Eternal capsule to anyone earning 750 Split points

Rune Updates

10 16Nimbus Cloak

BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED 15%/25%/35% (summoner spell cooldown 0/100/250 seconds)  10%/20%/30% (summoner spell cooldown 0/100/250 seconds)

This was a broken rune & incredibly helpful on both evading and pursuing. Nice to hear some balance on this one. 

DX11 Update

  • Riot is bringing DX11 to the League with a beta test. Refer HERE to join.


Available with patch 10.16

    • The bottom line of chat can appear to be missing depending on the focus of the chat
    • Tooltips for items in Item Sets would not always display
    • The “unable to retrieve settings” modal would appear more often than intended
    • Loading less frequently used sections of the client are now deferred until clicked, resulting in faster client start up times
  • Synced up Chaos and Order cannon minions’ attack ranges
  • Dying to Shaco’s R – Hallucinate explosion right after casting E – Lightning Rush to kill the clone as Kennen no longer causes his ability to be permanently swapped with E2 – Lightning Rush (which cancels the ability)
  • Fiddlesticks’ R – Crowstorm will no longer continue to deal full damage if he dies right after blinking to his target destination
  • Shen is no longer able to purchase items, cast R – Stand United and undo all purchases before the cast completes
  • Darius’ W – Crippling Strike-empowered attack now properly does damage to a target with a Spell Shield
  • Sejuani’s Q – Arctic Assault+basic attack combo now properly triggers Electrocute
  • Lillia’s walking and running animations will no longer loop when inputting move commands
  • The basic attack after Blitzcrank casts Q – Rocket Grab and Amumu casts Q – Bandage Toss now properly grants stacks of Conqueror, Electrocute, and Phase Rush
  • Pulsefire Ezreal’s VFX can now properly be seen while spectating
  • Hitting an enemy champion with Shyvana’s R – Dragon’s Descent while W – Burnout is activated will now properly grant two stacks of Conqueror
  • Rek’Sai’s Q – Queen’s Wrath-empowered basic attacks no longer fizzle if used on an enemy shortly after casting R – Void Rush
  • Sivir’s Passive – Fleet of Foot SFX has been restored to Base and all skins
  • Dawnbringer Nidalee’s Passive – Prowl reset SFX has been restored
  • Completing Kha’Zix’s and Rengar’s The Hunt Is On! in-game mission will now properly play the respective SFX for all their skins
  • All skins will now play Idle SFX using base assets
