Welcome to the Valorant minimap guide. In this article, you will learn about the minimap, how to effectively use it, and the best minimap settings.
What is a minimap
A minimap in Valorant is a small tool displayed on the top left of your screen. The minimap shows the layout of the map, your allies’ locations, and the location of the spike. The minimap also shows the location of your enemies whenever they come into contact with your team’s line of sight.
How to use the minimap
From our definition of a minimap, you probably already understand the importance of this tool. Taking a look at the minimap once in a while will provide you with so much information.
Using a minimap will make it easier for you to use your abilities. Especially if you are playing with a controller, you can effectively use the minimap to your advantage and find the best spots to smoke.
Minimaps can also be extremely useful for lineups; learn how to use your minimap to execute specific lineups.
On the minimap, you can see your allies as well as the direction they are facing. Using this mechanic, you will know which angle your teammate is holding, which will help you make better decisions and also take better crossfire angles.
To effectively use the minimap, make sure to take a look at the map once in a while. By failing to do so, you are denying yourself a lot of information.
How to change minimap settings in Valorant
To change your minimap settings, go to Settings > General.
You can find the “Map” tab here.
Rotate: This is a personal preference, you can have it fixed or rotated, we recommend you experiment with the setting.
Keep player centered: make sure this option is turned off.
By having the player centered “on,” you won’t be able to see the entire minimap, which will deny you a lot of information across the map. Make sure to turn this off.
