Valorant has a wide variety of weapons from pistols to sniper rifles, Stinger is an SMG that is about to receive a few changes in the upcoming patch.
The game recently received a massive update with the arrival of Episode 6. Valorant added a new map and made changes to the current map rotation. Split and Lotus will now replace Bind and Breeze.
We got a lot of gameplay updates, map changes and bug fixes on various agents but no changes to the weapons.
Valorant recently tweeted about the Stinger Changes for Patch 6.02.
After a few weeks of tracking, were upping the cost of the Stinger and adjusting the damage fall-off in time for Patch 6.02.
We feel the Stinger is over-performing at its price point, especially in the early rounds, and lacks the right economic tradeoffs. 🧵

Stinger is a low-cost SMG and is a primary weapon in Valorant. The gun comes with two firing modes. The primary firing mode is automatic and Alt-fire with the stinger uses burst mode.
The Stinger costs only 950 credits and is a perfect choice to buy on eco or half-buy rounds. This SMG is extremely effective at close range and its high rate of fire is good at eliminating single targets.
By using the secondary firing mode, Stinger can be effective at the medium range too.
A lot of people in the Valorant community always felt like the stinger is a little overpowered for its price range, and the weapon is finally receiving a few changes.

Stinger Changes for Patch 6.02
Cost Increased from 950 > 1100
The cost of the stinger will be increased by 150 credits. The price increase might not seem much, but since the stinger is most commonly bought in dire situations, this change might be really effective.
Damage Fall-off Change
27 Damage per bullet (0-15m)
23 Damage per bullet (15m+)
Previously:
27 Damage per bullet (0-20m)
25 Damage per bullet (20m+)
These changes are from the official Valorant Twitter page. We can expect these changes soon in the upcoming patch.
No other details or changes about Patch 6.02 has been released yet.
These changes to the stinger will most likely bring balance to the weapon.
In maps like split, the stinger is one of the most cost-effective weapons. Split is a fairly small map with a lot of close angles and the stinger is extremely effective in close ranges.
Being able to buy a primary weapon every round and still have a decent amount of money for the next round breaks the Valorant economy.
We are yet to see if these minor changes to the stinger will bring a change to the force-buy meta or will the community not adapt and continue to buy the stinger.
