Here’s what Anna Donlon from Riot Games had to say
Valorant Upcoming Changes 2023
Here are some of the exciting things to look forward to in 2023.
Episodes and Acts
Valorant will continue to have new Episodes and Acts. Episodes are massive updates that contain 3 Acts. Each episode lasts about 6 months long.
Episodes don’t usually bring much content to the game, it is the Act changes but bring changes and additions like Agents, Maps or Game modes.
Game Director Andy Ho has confirmed that there will be major episodes and acts that bring new agents, maps, skins, battle passes, balance updates and many more.
New Game modes
Swiftplay is one of the most successful gameplay modes in Valorant. It was recently added to the game modes pool and is one of the most played game modes currently.
It is confirmed that the Valorant team is planning to release another new game mode they are planning to release this year.
The game mode is going to be a team death match. This is a good game mode to warm up your aim before hopping into a competitive match.
Usually, the objective of a team deathmatch is to get to the set number of kills to win the match. It is similar to a normal deathmatch, however, instead of being a free-for-all, a team deathmatch will most probably be a 5v5 mode.
New meta-game systems
The team will also be launching a lot of new meta-game systems that include things like new methods to mitigate disruptive behaviour across both voice and text.
This new system should bring down the toxicity within the game which will in turn improve the game experience.
They will also be adding new systems and methods that will allow you to unlock content in the game. They could be referring to exclusive skins or gun buddy drops, not much has been confirmed about this.
Competitive Valorant is getting a major evolution in 2023. Premier is a tournament-style game mode in Valorant. It has the same rules as competitive while allowing the players to pick and ban maps.
Valorant Premier allows you to create a team of your own and compete against players of similar skill in a tournament-style game mode.
The team is surprised by the number of players that showed up in Premier alpha which was conducted in Brazil.
This gave the Valorant team a ton of confidence for the premier in global beta and the premier in the global launch which are both planned for 2023.
The work to bring Valorant to new platforms is still going, it is slower than hoped, but the team wants to get it right.
Valorant will be coming both to mobile and console, you can read more about the console release here.
Valorant coming to multiple platforms will unlock much more potential within the game and also in the esports scene.
These are the current known upcoming changes coming to Valorant.
