Learn Valorant ranking system and how ranks in Valorant work with our extensive infographics! Valorant ranks are a little bit different from other FPS game ranks and other Riot-created games. To be able to play in Competitive mode, new players must have reached Account Level 20. Currently there are 9 ranks within the game and new players must play 5 placement games in Competitive game mode. The highest rank a player can place after completing these 5 matches is Ascendant 1 (previously Diamond 1).
RANK RATING (RR)
RR shows the change in player ranks after the game. Winning a game results in gaining approx. 5-50 RR depending on rank (higher ranks usually earn less RR); losing a game means minus 0-30 RR depending on rank (higher ranks lose more RR). Draws result in a maximum of 20 RR (based on performance, Iron to Diamond games only). When a player reaches 100 RR, they promote to the next tier with a min. of 10 RR in balance.
RR THRESHOLDS TO HIT RADIANT PER REGION
Immortal & Radiant players can exceed 100 RR to climb up. This threshold can change depending on the region.
COMPETITIVE PARTY RANK DISPARITY
Up to 5 players in a party (stack) can queue for a game in Competitive except for 4-player parties. Valorant queues parties considering their party sizes so there are standards set for players with certain ranks to queue up together.
5-stack parties can queue for Competitive no matter the ranks however a 25% RR reduction for wins/losses is applied. Through gorups 6-13, this applies instantly if any player in the stack is Immortal. If this stack has a Radiant player, RR reduction increases to 75%. Players in Immortal & Radiant cannot form groups of 3-stack. Players still waiting for placement can be in a stack with ranked players except the highest ranks.
Act Ranks were established to show players’ past performances and to recognize their skills and the victorious games they had through the act. Each rank has its own color relative to the rank’s own. Winning games fill up the triangle frame with smaller rank triangles. When the entire frame is full, new games won in a higher rank will replace the lower ranks triangles.
The frame also updates as more games are won. Current thresholds for frame upgrades are 9, 25, 50, 75 & 100, respectively. When an act ends players can still see their previous act ranks as a badge within the player card in Competitive games and in the career page.
Every player gets a gun buddy after each episode ends, for the top Act Rank they have reached in that episode.
